Helping People Get The Disability Benefits They Need In North Carolina

The Social Security Administration (SSA) recognizes that disabled workers are not the only ones who suffer when a family member has a mental or physical disability. At the offices of Brod Disability Law, in North Carolina, we have experience helping clients obtain the Social Security benefits they need. If you are having trouble making ends meet because you are unable to work, you may qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.Contact us to schedule a free initial consultation to discuss your situation and find out how our lawyer, Karen Brod, can help you.

SSDI

Traditional Social Security benefits are intended for people who are no longer able to work as they previously did, because of one or more disabling conditions. Furthermore, widows, children, and others suffering from a disability may qualify for benefits as follows:

  • Social Security Disability Insurance benefits are available for widows between the ages of 50 and 60, who are disabled.
  • Social Security Disability Insurance benefits are available for children whose parents are deceased or disabled or for people who became disabled while under the age of 22.

SSI

You may not qualify for SSDI, but if you have little or no income, other disability programs may be available. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) provides federal benefits for people with low income who do not qualify for SSDI benefits. Those who are aged, blind, or otherwise disabled and have little or no income may be eligible. These benefits are designed to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter. Most of the time, the income of your entire household is used in determining eligibility for these benefits.

When you are struggling financially because of a disability, there are options. When you come in for a free initial consultation, we will explain your disability options and discuss how we can help you obtain the benefits you deserve. We don’t collect any attorney fee unless you receive benefits.
